Hello! My name is Grace Dobernick. I am a Junior at St. John’s High School and I participate in our Renaissance club and Compassion club at school. As a Freshman in high school, I received the opportunity to play Junior Varsity basketball and was very lucky to be a starter and I met new teammates, then at the end of my Freshman year, I moved to the Varsity team for Districts. I worked really hard and made the Varsity team as a Sophomore and now as a Junior, I still play Varsity basketball.
I have been playing AAU travel basketball since sixth grade and it was the best decision of my life. I have made so many new friends and found even more love for the game. When I was in the Seventh grade, my team took second place in the State tournament and traveled to Tennessee for Nationals, then with hard work from myself and my team, we took First place in the State tournament and went to Orlando Florida for Nationals, during my Eight grade year. Due to Covid, I was not able to play travel basketball for my Freshman year, but restarted again my Sophomore year. I am on a new team and this is our second year playing together and with practice and dedication, we will improve our game and do great things together.
I would love to continue playing basketball during college and I hope to have an opportunity to be chosen to do so. I am a hard worker and a team player. I keep my teammates upbeat during hard times and talk to my teammates during the game so we can execute plays properly.
